Fireproof containers are recommended, but it's possible to also use other containers safely as long as they're big enough. The key is to prevent the melt pool from reaching the container edge and to keep the container from heating up while burning. Generally, that means 4 inches minimum container width at the narrowest part but test it carefully and make sure it's not heating up while burning. Also, make sure to have at least 2 inches of pearls around each wick (use only one wick in a 4-inch wide container!), and least 1 inch between the bottom of the wick and the container bottom.

Total burn time can vary significantly depending on how the product is used. Do you relight the same wick or replace it each time? Are you using one or multiple wicks at once? How long do you let them burn before refreshing your candle? All of these factors influence how long your Pearl Candle will last. Each 5 cm wick burns for approximately 1-3 hours. You can also cut the wicks shorter if you prefer a shorter burn time. Every De Ember candle set includes 10 to 30 wicks, depending on the set size.

You have options! You can use a flame snuffer, dip the wick with a wick dipper, or simply blow it out gently. Nope, the pearls won't fly everywhere if you blow out the flame carefully.

Yes, all of our white pearls float on water while our colored products are NOT suitable for floating candles. We recommend pouring at least a 3 inches height of white pearls on top of water and making sure the bottom of the wick is not touching the water. Just add any decorations you'd like into a vase, fill it with water until the decor is submerged, and then pour De Ember's White Pearl Candle (Elysian Cream) on top.

Yes! Just scoop out the pearls with a spoon or catch them in a fine- meshed strainer, then allow them to air dry on paper towels before reusing. The more you spread them out, the faster they will dry.

No, you can relight the same wick multiple times and burn it as long as it lasts. Each De Ember's cotton wick can burn around 1-3 hours. That said, we give you plenty of wicks with every Pearl Candle so you could refresh your candle as often as you'd like to make it look new again. You can also cut the wick and re-use the part that hasn't been used yet, or flip the wick to bury the melt pool for zero waste while still making your candle look brand new. Keep in mind cutting the wick will shorten the burn time.

No, the fact that our wicks are NOT attached to the bottom of the jar makes them safer than traditional candles. When the wick gets close to running out, it simply falls over into the melt pool and self-extinguishes. This means if you accidentally leave your De Ember's Pearl Candle burning (which we of course do not recommend since it's still real fire), the flame will go out after about 10 hours. Our instructions say to leave at least an inch of space between the bottom of the wick and the container, which means the wick will self-extinguish before the heat reaches the container.

The most common reason why the wick is not burning for the full 1-3 hours is if the wick tip is left too far out of the pearls. When inserting the wick, aim to have only about a quarter-inch tip sticking out, just enough to light it. Leaving the wick our further will shorten the burn time.

Yes, simply select one of our candles and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil or our fragrance oil near the wick before lighting. Please do so at your own discretion, as oils are highly flammable and must never be added to a lit candle. Some oils may perform better than others, so we recommend experimenting with care. Any modifications, including added colour or scent, are the responsibility of the user.

Our Pearl Candles are made from highly purified plant-based wax, burning cleanly with minimal smoke or soot. They do not contain paraffin or any known allergens. Our scents do not contain parabens or phthalates. You can also take some comfort knowing that Pearl Candles self- extinguish if accidentally spilled as the pearls snuff the flame. They also self-extinguish if accidentally left burning long-term, as the wick will eventually fall over and ""drown"" in the melt pool.

De Ember's Pearl Candles are ~100% plant-based, vegan, and burn cleanly with minimal smoke or soot. Our pearls are derived from sustainably sourced and highly purified plant-based wax. They do not contain paraffin, soy or any known allergens. We use natural fragrances to scent our scented versions. Our scents are free of phthalates and parabens.

Yes, De Ember's Pearl Candles are plant-based, clean-burning, and pet-friendly. We still recommend keeping them out of reach of pets since they're technically not edible and burning with real fire, but you'll be glad to know the Pearl Candles are non-toxic and not expected to be harmful if a small amount is ingested. You can also take some comfort knowing that De Ember's Pearl Candle self- extinguish if accidentally spilled as the pearls snuff the flame.

We are proud to say that our product ingredients have been reviewed by veterinarians specialising in birds and they stated they've never seen a safer candle on the market! That said, just like humans, pets and birds can potentially have individual sensitivities to certain fragrances etc. so we recommend not burning candles in the same room with birds just out of an abundance of caution.

At De Ember, we offer 30-day return policy (except those that are personalised or custom-made at your request). If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days — as long as the item is unused and in its original packaging — for a full refund. If the product is returned used, damaged, or without the original packaging, a partial refund may be issued upon our inspection of the returned item.
